Bama Dan Now Discussing 'Next Season' As If Playoff Never Happened

GREENVILLE — Less than 24 hours after the University of Alabama was demolished 38-3 by Indiana in the Rose Bowl, local Alabama superfan "Bama Dan," who did not attend the University of Alabama, has begun enthusiastically discussing the Crimson Tide's 2025 recruiting class and "next season" as though the College Football Playoff never occurred, according to bewildered friends.

"He just texted the group chat 'Saban really set us up with this roster coming in,'" said longtime friend Marcus Chen, 33, a Clemson graduate who received 47 bracket screenshots from Bama Dan in the week before the game. "That's it. That's the first thing he's said since kickoff yesterday. No acknowledgment. Nothing about the game. Just straight to recruiting."

According to witnesses, Bama Dan went completely silent in the group chat approximately 14 minutes into the first quarter, when Indiana scored its second touchdown to go up 14-0. His last message, sent at 4:47 p.m. on New Year's Day, read simply "Refs are trash."

"We've sent him the final score like 30 times," said Amanda Foster, a mutual friend who attended Clemson and had publicly hoped Indiana would win. "Screenshots. Memes. The ESPN headline. I sent him a photo of the bracket with Indiana circled. Nothing. Complete radio silence on anything related to January 1st, 2025."

Friends report that Bama Dan's phone showed him "online" on multiple platforms during the fourth quarter but that he responded to nothing, eventually posting an Instagram story at 11:47 p.m. that was simply a photo of his dog with no caption.

"I asked him directly this morning, 'Hey man, tough game yesterday huh?'" said Chen. "He replied 'What? Oh, I didn't really watch. Anyway, have you seen the linebacker we're getting from IMG Academy?'"

"He says 'we' a lot for someone whose only connection to Alabama is that his uncle lived in Mobile for two years," Foster observed.

The same group chat that Bama Dan had flooded with bracket screenshots, playoff predictions, and unsolicited "Roll Tide" messages throughout December has now become a one-sided barrage of 38-3 memes that sources confirm he is "definitely seeing but absolutely not acknowledging."

"He changed his Fantasy Football team name back from 'Clemson's Couch' to just his regular name," Foster noted. "Did it sometime around the third quarter, I think. Didn't say anything about it."

As of press time, Bama Dan had sent the group chat an unprompted 400-word analysis of Alabama's defensive line prospects for next season, followed by the message "This is going to be a special year," and then immediately muted the conversation.
