SIMPSONVILLE — Local Alabama fan Dan "Bama Dan" Pritchett spent Friday afternoon explaining to everyone within earshot at Buffalo Wild Wings that Clemson's 22-10 Pinstripe Bowl loss to Penn State never would have happened under Nick Saban, despite having no coaching experience and a torn rotator cuff from a 2019 cornhole incident.

"This is what happens when you don't have a real program," said Pritchett, 54, gesturing at the television with a half-eaten boneless wing while four visibly exhausted Clemson fans stared into their beers. "You think Coach Saban would've let them score a 73-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter? No sir. That's about discipline. That's about culture."

Pritchett, who moved to the Upstate in 2008 and has attended zero Alabama home games since, reportedly arrives at most Clemson watch parties uninvited and wearing a houndstooth hat regardless of whether Alabama is playing that day.

"He does this every single time," said longtime Clemson fan Brenda Wilkins, 48, who made the mistake of sitting at the adjacent table. "They could win a national championship and Dan would find a way to bring up the 2012 BCS title game."

The Pinstripe Bowl, played in frigid conditions at Yankee Stadium, marked the lowest-scoring game in the bowl's history and capped Clemson's 7-6 season—their worst record since 2010. Pritchett noted this fact approximately every three minutes.

"Seven and six. Seven. And. Six," Pritchett repeated, shaking his head slowly for dramatic effect. "You know what we call a 7-6 season in Tuscaloosa? A fireable offense. When's the last time Bama went 7-6? I'll wait."

When reminded that Alabama finished 9-4 this season and lost to unranked Vanderbilt at home, Pritchett pivoted seamlessly.

"Different situation entirely," he said. "We're in a rebuilding year. Clemson's had Dabo for fifteen years. What's his excuse?"

Bartender Travis Coleman, who has served Pritchett for six years, confirmed this behavior is not isolated to bowl games.

"He wore an Alabama jersey to his daughter's wedding," Coleman said. "The reception was Clemson-themed. His son-in-law went to Clemson. Dan gave a toast about the 2018 national championship game."

As of press time, Pritchett was explaining to no one in particular that he "could have been in the booth" and that his fantasy football record proves he understands the game at an elite level.
